Help girl im typing out more words about miya atsumu than i already have sitting in my gdrive. this is basically believe it or not jiang cheng is good part 2 in terms of how much it deeply embarrasses me that i have this many thoughts about it, except instead of jiang cheng being good it's atsumu specifically creating losses for himself. anyway lately i realized i've accidentally had a lot of long conversations with various ppl about atsumu's cringefail character development so i was like well i guess i'll just try to synthesize them, in addition to stuff i've worked out in the process of revisiting the manga and writing fic
abstract/TLDR:
atsumu always had the luxury of given trust with osamu, and when he realized he wouldn't always have that he had to learn to consciously earn it from his teammates
he sees the value in that earned trust reflected in kageyama, hinata, and eventually in msby, especially when it's premised upon that same hunger for volleyball (that osamu didn't exactly share with him)
atsukagehina have narrative parallels and implications in each other's growths
